Homeopathy

Founded by Samuel Hahnemann who was born 1755 and died 1843, Homeopathy is essentially natural healing; the aim is to restore your health as quickly and as gently as possible. Once an in depth case history has been taken, a remedy is then selected based on the principal of like curing like. The law of similars states that any substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person can cure the same symptoms if they are present in an unhealthy person. Remedies are safe, gentle and effective enabling you to regain health in its holistic sense; they are individually selected to cover all of your symptoms, physical, social, emotional and spiritual.

Homeopaths treat the person by looking at the symptoms that are present and do not treat the disease as would be labelled by the medical profession. Each person who has the same disease label may not receive the same remedy. Disease is seen as a disturbance of our whole system and unless the underlying cause of illness is treated the disease itself will re-occur. It is the loss of vitality of an individual that requires the treatment. Remedies given aid the body to return to a state of balance in order for the natural healing system to function to cure disease. The remedies stimulate the body to heal itself to restore its balance. Any natural substance can be utilised as a homeopathic medicine as long as it is diluted in water. This is called potentising. Homeopathy treats the whole person not the disease; taking into consideration the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a person and also family, locality and societal influences on their health and wellbeing

Homeopathy also offers a method of maintaining health and preventing illness. Diseases such as arthritis or chronic heart disease can more easily be cured at an early stage, before any major physical changes have occurred in the body. Then the sick person is still strong enough to throw off the disease, it is therefore important not to keep ignoring those niggling repetitive problems. Homeopaths look at the symptoms a person presents as an indication of the remedy needed and do not look at the collection of symptoms as a disease.

The ancient belief in direction of cure states that the first initial problem will be the last to be cured in a patient. When giving a remedy, if a patient has a return of old symptoms this is seen as a good indicator that the remedy given was correct and the direction of cure is being followed. Old returning symptoms come back and leave very quickly when treated with homeopathic remedies. Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine, which uses the principal of similars. People suffering from all kinds of illness from depression to arthritis, migraine to ulcers, PMS to asthma can all be helped by homeopathy to regain their health.

Health care is undergoing great changes, everywhere people are realising that there is more to health than being physically fit and well-fed; innovative techniques in surgery improve many lives but continuing chronic illnesses and mental or emotional disturbances remain. Some believe that homeopathy is a placebo and that the interaction of the patient with the practitioner is what aids to bring about healing. Research is ongoing to prove homeopathy and its effectiveness in animals tends to blow this theory wide; however until science has moved forward enough to allow for the possibility of exploring energy at the level of homeopathy more in depth, many scientists will continue to think that the action of homeopathy is no more than coincidence and placebo.

Homeopathy has a great deal to offer with its different approach to health and disease and to the general feeling of well being patient’s experience.
